On this Day
The Queen-Brooklyn crosstown G Train (originally called GG) operated today for the first time between Queens Plaza in Long Island City and Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint in 1933. The GG was extended significantly for the 1939/1940 New York World’s Fair. Moreover, 1939 World’s Fair specials were served by G (single) trains marked as “S Special”.
